I just noticed that the BBC Icons that shows up after the message icon selection bar is gone from my forum. Only the emoticons shows with empty line above.

It had been once installed, but after that I have reinstalled it. Anyway it remained unistalled on the server. Now I installed again, uninstalled, and then deleted. It solved the problem, thanks a lot

i'd check the permissions on the directory holding those images, too. 

some servers are equipped with a mod_ that enforces file/directory permissions globally and changes them accordingly.  if the permissions are wrong the server won't serve them, and...

No need for 777.

Files should be 644 or 664, directories should be 755 or 775,depending on the setup

And 777 can cause 500errors on some hosts... but one assumes that your host would have been able to tell you that.   Sounds like a really poor host, re...

My theme does not have any of the files mentioned: index.template.php, boardindex.template.php or login.template.php. It does have index.php, of course.

The forum has worked for me for years and I don't think I've done any manual upgrades to SMF; maybe...
